Demix

Deconstruct your songs.

Demix pulls a song apart into its individual instruments, right on your device. Mute the vocals and sing it yourself, drop a part and play it, or solo any instrument to hear exactly what it's doing. It also lays out an automatic transcription of each part (a scrollable tracker with tab, staff notation, chords and lyrics) as a guide to follow along.

The remarkable part: it all happens on your device. The AI models that separate and transcribe the music run locally on the iPhone's GPU. Your audio is never uploaded to a server. There isn't one.

What Demix does:

  • Imports a track from an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC or AIFF), a song in your Music library or a video — or records one with the mic.
  • Separates a song into up to six stems: drums, bass, vocals, guitar, piano and other.
  • Mute or solo any stem to sing over a backing track or play a part yourself, with a per-stem mixer (volume, pan, reverb) and a real finger-driven scrub.
  • Re-voices any stem with synth instruments, and lets you slow a section down or loop a passage.
  • Transcribes each part automatically as a guide, shown as a piano-roll, guitar/bass tablature, staff notation, a chord lead-sheet, a drum grid and karaoke-style lyrics. It runs on-device and is there to help you follow along, not to be note-perfect.
  • Estimates the key, tempo, meter and chord progression.
  • Exports to MIDI and a project file you can open elsewhere.
